The article I posted also states that this in inherent to all radiation shields, not just Davis, which obviously it does. This paragraph obviously has to do with fan longevity, something I couldn't care less about. You conveniently left out the last paragraph which explains the benefits of nighttime aspiration.]Really? Troll on this. https://ambientweather.wikispaces.com/Davis+VantagePro2+Fan+Aspirated+Radiation+Shield
Really. From your link (emphasis mine):QuoteQuestion
What is the difference between the daytime and 24 hour fan?
Answer
The daytime fan runs on solar power. The 24 hour fan runs on a combination of solar and battery power. The 24 hour fan can be configured to run only during the day. Unless you have a problem with radiant heat transfer from an external source at night, the daytime configuration is recommended. The fan will last longer (they typically last 40,000 hours) when it runs only during the daytime.
As I've pointed out before, people have been modding their 5n1s to run 24 hours. It's not a big deal. Do it if you need/want to.
What exactly, is your point?
I guess all the 5n1 users that have gone 24/7 are all full of crap, too, except the ones that need it.
You make my point for me.
I'm done.
You must live in an area where terrestrial radiation is present. If so, a 24 hour fan is necessary for your setup. In my setup, for instance, it would be a waste of money. Also if you read the original write-up on the Davis site, it seems like a little bit of a marketing push to buy their 24 hour fan setup also.
