So, I own an AcuRite 5-in-1. It is connected to WU using a PC running Weather Display.
My station is located under a tree. Since it is winter, there are no leaves on the trees. Thus, it does not affect the rainfall amounts too much. In the spring, obviously, the leaves will grow back. It's location right now is good for wind and temperature, so I would like to leave it where it is.
I found this on the AcuRite website: http://www.acurite.com/self-emptying-rain-collector-replacement-899tx.html.
Can I connect this to the computer and have Weather Display record these readings instead? That would be great, so that I wouldn't have to move the unit.
Thanks.
No. It's not compatible with your 5n1 display and thus has no way to communicate to your computer via the USB port.
If you had a bridge you might be able to do something, but I'm not entirely sure it is fully AcuLink compatible as per the web page. Usually when they advertise the shorter range (100 ft or 30m) I get wary. AcuLink seems to be able to read some of those devices (when in range), but things often get goofy.
