Re: 5 in 1 fan and high temp readings (slow fan)

Great tip! What kind of lube did you use?  I actually found some oil that's specific to electric motors.  It's used in ceiling fans and a local hardware store had some.  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: 5 in 1 fan and high temp readings (slow fan)

I've got several different kinds. The one I used is in a small metal container, and says "3 in 1" on it. I also have "break free" which is really good too. The kind you mention for motors would work...

I'm using plastic safe Liquid Bearings used in model railroad and powdered graphite lubricant which is used alot in grandfather clocks.

Re: 5 in 1 fan and high temp readings (slow fan)

Powered graphite is excellent because as a dry powder, it does not attract and hold dust & dirt particles as oils & greases do.

And, "...on paper...", The TITANIC was unsinkable.  So, I wouldn't put too much credence into those projected specs, ie: real world results always trump anticipated marketing specs.

Will the 5 in 1 withstand a harsh ocean front installation?

I have a 5 in 1 in a fairly mild climate and it's just OK. I'd like one at my vacation home on an ocean front cliff.  (100 mph winds are common, rainfall is 100"/year and the salt air will destroy any...

Re: Will the 5 in 1 withstand a harsh ocean front installation?

In those conditions, not in a million years. You'll need something much more robust, like RM Young. Don't waste your money.

Re: Will the 5 in 1 withstand a harsh ocean front installation?

I read a review on Amazon one time about an installation on the outer banks of NC, and I think the sensor lasted just over one year. That isn't too bad. Also you get a one year warranty.

This sounds like the perfect application for a yacht/sailboat ultrasonic anemometer, since it was intended for exposure to salt and has no moving parts.....

Re: Does any Acurite weather stations measure temp. in tenths of a dregree?

I don't believe AcuRite has a display that will show it, but the sensors measure tenths of a degree. You can however display tenths on My Acurite's app and weather underground and a PC connect display...
