Looks higher than 7'. If you notice some swirling on the wind vane, put a couple of magnets on there. I've found higher up gives better temperature readings with this unit.

You are off base on MB - it retains the local copy of the FW and you can choose to upgrade or not. AFAICT it updates WU every 15-30 seconds.
