Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

I am very impressed so far with this new sensor, and it's only been up a few hours.

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

Nice!  Good to know.  I got my tracking numbers today from Acurite so at least I know mine is on the way.

station placment

i live in a circle at the bottom of a mountain. My elevation is about 2600ft and behind my house is all mountain for miles. I really don't want it in the middle of the yard. i was thinking of mounting...

Re: station placment

A position close to trees, especially a wooded area, will also have an affect on your dewpoint.

Re: station placment

I didn't think about it affecting dew point. I will have to figure something out. I like living in the woods but its not the best when trying to figure out where to place a weather sensor

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

I received my unit today, and sure enough, it came with the new sensor so I'll try to get a refund for the one I ordered separately.  I have a broken ankle so if I can get a neighbor to help me out...

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

Some bad news. I installed the new sensor up at 20 feet, and now after a few hours, the anemometer is stuck. I've got to take it back down again and oil it I suppose?  Don't they oil them at the factory?

Re: New version of Kevin Key's Acu-Link Bridge Reader App

I gave it a try tonight, but as soon as I bridge the the two connections, the wifi disconnects.  Anyone else experienced this?

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

My anemometer appears to be sticking once in a while. It freed itself this morning but as I watch it, the thing will just stop like there is something rubbing. Then it will run smooth for a while and...

Re: New version of Kevin Key's Acu-Link Bridge Reader App

A big thanks to Kevin for working with me last night via email, but I just could not get it to work on my old XP machine.  The software was fine.  The problem had to do with the bridging of my LAN...

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

Sucks when there's a problem from the factory like that.  Have you contacted Acurite to see if they'll send a replacement?

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

No. I don't want to have to send it back, and then wait and wait. If there should develop a worsening condition, I will see what they will do for me. I am disappointed that they had not oiled the...

Acurite 5 in 1 mounting question

I had a question about mounting my weather station.  I just picked up an Acurite 02032c from Costco.  This is my first weather station.  I am heavily in to home automation and thought this would be a...

Re: Acurite 5 in 1 mounting question

You want to do what you can to keep the sensor from rocking. Slightly should be OK, but any jerking will set off the rain gauge. What I did was mount a thicker pole as the bottom support, and then took...

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

I don't know if oiling is a good idea.  Over the long term the oil may attract contaminants (dirt, dust, etc).  I bring this observation from working on outdoor power equipment, not from my weather...

Re: Acurite 5 in 1 mounting question

Just built this mount in the picture for my ambient ws-1400. 10 foot metal conduit attached to a 4x4 from Home Depot. Its anchored by a metal post holder that goes about 3 feet deep. Mount is rock...

Re: Acurite 5 in 1 mounting question

dport,Thanks for posting.  How far above the 4x4 is the conduit extending?  Do you know what diameter conduit you used?

Re: Acurite 5 in 1 mounting question

The diameter is 1.25 inches. The conduit extends about 5 feet above the 4x4. If you were to look at the back of the post the conduit starts about 3 feet up on the 4x4. I used two metal brackets to...

Re: Acurite 5 in 1 mounting question

To my knowledge, the max diameter that can fit the 5 in 1 is 1 inch.

Re: My Acurite 5 in 1

My 5 in 1 is working very well. Had heavy rain and the gauge was perfect. Also had some modest wind today and the sensor has been up to 13 MPH and hanging around 5-10 all day. The Anemometer is...
