Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately there's no black button inside that little Cover where the USB input is :(

Any other ideas?

How old is this display ? It looks like a older model that I cannot find and info for a reset in the manual https://www.acurite.com/media/manuals/06058-instructions.pdf

Probably be best to try and contact Acurite by chat or e-mail maybe they know a way to reset it . Could be the power source got damaged and is not putting out the right amount of power but that would be a long shot . Try a couple of different outlets and if you have another power adapter that's the same output maybe try that .  And it could have gotten a power surge that damaged the display . Or as with some of the new displays it just bricked itself . There's been some problems with the new Atlas displays doing that .  Good luck !!

It's only 18 months old so shouldn't be failing yet surely!?!

I'll drop their support a line now....

Thank you

Your display is BRICKED.    As CW2274 mentioned above, there is a threat labeled "Atlas Display Frozen"  that explains the whole thing.    No changing power supplies or looking for reset buttons will fix it.  Please read that thread.

It seems like a different model. Seems like Acurite is having this freezing issue with more than one model. Does that other thread discuss just one model or several?

Should this thread be merged into the other thread? Or are these separate issues? I'm leaning into a merge decision.

galfert -  I see now that this IS a different model with the same symptoms.  I should have noticed from the picture.    Thanks for pointing that out.

This is a totally different display from the Atlas one . The atlas display is  model 06061M and this person talking about model 06058M which doesn't work with the Atlas .

Okay then. Separate displays but seemingly same issue. I'll let them stand as separate threads and not merge as that might facilitate others to find the appropriate thread as who knows a solution may be found to one that doesn't apply to the other. Although I think the outcomes will be the same, no fix, but we'll see.

CW2274 did well in referencing the other thread as it could prove what happens there to help with this separate model.

I'd say you could take the opportunity to upgrade the sensor to the SHT31 or SHT35/85.

Looking at the entire SHT family of sensors, I was thinking of that too...
Although, given the dependency on so many different factors, it is questionable
if the increased resolution and accuracy of the 31 or the 35/85 is going to come
into play and making the extra expense worth the money.

Any city/gas/electric maintenance trucks in the area? I’ve had it happen 2-3 times. The one time I’m pretty sure it was the electric company checking lines with a lineman communicating with someone in a truck using some type of wireless device.

Nope this was on a Sunday and no workers around at all . Plus I live in a area with all utilities are underground .

Have you performed this update yet?  If so, did you check the voltage across the points of contact before installing the battery holder?
Sorry no I didn't I was just asking for future members and when I get my Atlas so I can do it as well.

U P D A T E !  - 2020!

Morning everyone,

Well its now February 2020, almost 5 years since my original post.

I now live in the other side of the country, in a completely different house, material and population housing density, much more signal interference from homes with wifi etc...

So, lets re-hash a bit. Since moving across the country in 2018, I hadn't bothered to set up my Acurite weather station, and it remained packed up in its original box until yesterday, 10th February 2020.

The original cable I attached for the antenna gain was removed on packup, and had since been thrown out or misplaced, so I simply thought it may have just been an issue with the old house etc. Therefore, I would take onboard all of the technical advice from the original thread above and simply re-install the weatherstation in its original form and give it a go, the way it was designed.

Only to experience the EXACT SAME SIGNAL ISSUE!

I tried switching channels, A,B,C, all connected as they should, but all lost signal within a minute or two, JUST as they had done 5 years ago.

So, once again, into my shed to locate a spool of 4mm electrical wire, nothing special, just copper core with black plastic coating, normally used in auto-electrical work, 12v upto 10amp situation.

I took the unit down, unscrewed everything, to find that amazing little spring they use for the antenna, and just as before, I inserted a stripped end of the wire down inside of the spring, and ran the remaining few metres of wire out through one of the drain holes, ran a few tests at ground level.......FULL, and UN-INTERRUPTED SIGNAL!

So, it's up on the roof we go, re-attached the weatherstation to the mast/pole, ran the remaining couple of metres of wire down the mast and cable tied it on, crossed my fingers and headed back down the ladder, back inside the house to the indoor unit......FULL, and UN-INTERRUPTED SIGNAL ONCE AGAIN!!!  \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

IT WORKS!, for all of the reasons that it shouldn't, from guys that gratefully shared their knowledge above, all I can say is, 5 years later, other side of the country, completely new environment and I've replicated the exact same success I had the first time by attaching some wire.

Absolutely wanting to convey nothing more than HELP for anyone struggling to get decent signal with their Acurite 5-in-1 Weather Station, PLEASE try this and save yourself alot of time.

My displays loose signal also, randomly. I am not sure what causes it... but it seems like the transmitter in the outdoor sensor drops off once in a while. I have extended the antenna wire in one of my indoor displays, and coiled the wire at the top, and even this did not help solve the problem completely.

I may try your idea next, but I may try coiling the wire I add on. I am afraid of shorting out the transmitter completely though.

Thanks for your update [tup] they could have improved the antenna on these units for sure I always had a issue with the old hub but with the new access that is no longer a problem always full signal, so I believe there is a antenna issue with both TX and RX.

Bottom line they need better antennas on these units if there limited to a certain power out put.

Hmmmm, I wonder if there is a similar mod for the Atlas?  My Atlas signal is terrible (worse than the 5n1 ever was) and I have to have the console 20' closer to the outside unit than I would like.  Since the console is terrible and does not connect to the internet or interact with the Access unit, I am mostly stuck with an old iPad in the area I used to keep the 5n1 console.

Within the past month I started to notice this. I have had my Atlas display since the Atlas was first released. What I have noticed is that as soon as the time changes to midnight on the display, the rain totals reset where the weekly and monthly rain totals are displayed. For the fun of it, I thought I would check to see if any records were displayed on the screen for "yesterday's records", and everything was just dashes and no records displayed for the previous day.

The antenna on the Atlas is covered by plastic internally and is difficult to get to.

Honestly, this isn't such a great mod.  I really haven't heard of anyone needing to do this in the past 5 years.

Might as well straighten all the helical antennas because radio engineers obviously don't know what they're doing.
