Going to Plan B (MeteoBridge/USB)

At 4:00 AM Friday morning, my 5-in-1 sensor decided to become anti-social.  It was 2 F outside, chilly but not abnormal this winter. The bridge stopped feeding 5-in-1 data to MBW, and all three Acu-Rite consoles that I have scattered around the house read 2 F with no changes for over a day.  I power-cycled the 5-in-1 sensor (no ladder required thanks to my remote battery box modification), but none of the consoles or MBW re-synced after an hour.  Power-cycling each console got then working again, but MBW wouldn't play nice or even let me remove the 5-in-1 sensor.

Long story short, I have been putting off changing MeteoBridge's input device from the network bridge to my 1035 USB console to get away from MBW outages causing me lost data on WU.  The only hesitation that I had was not wanting to upset my barometer data, since that one sensor would be changing because it is located in the bridge and 1035 console.  With a day and a half's gap in the data, it seems like a good time to make the change.  MeteoBridge was not happy with the change, and I had to go in and select each sensor on the web interface that I wanted to report even though they were the only options.

MeteoBridge has twice now lost communications with the USB console after less than a half hour.  I re-seated the USB hub and all other USB connections, and (knock on wood) it is still running after 45 minutes now.  I'm not surprised, knowing how picky the USB ports are on Acu-Rite's older consoles.  I just hope that it is stable enough after this last reboot where I don't have to go to Plan C.

I will post updates on the reliability of this setup if there's anything worth mentioning.  For now, I just have to sit idly by and be patient while waiting for WU to put my station back into the local grouping now that it is alive again.....
