Re: Wind Vane Sensitivity

The wind vane drove me nuts for a while, but I guess I just got used to it flopping all over the place. String did nothing for me. It needs some serious weight, but I gave up on it.

Re: Wind Vane Sensitivity

Some people prefer sensitivity, others prefer what they think are pretty graphs. The vane is designed to have very low resistance.  It's supposed to turn easily.  If a 1 MPH wind isn't able to turn it,...

Re: New color display for 5N1

I got my new display today.  I can tell you that it is 100 times better than the old display that came with the 5-in-1.  Teh numbers are large enough and legible enough to be seen from across the room....

Re: Wind Vane Sensitivity

We had almost an hour of calm winds yesterday and I noticed the wind speed was 0 but the wind direction would sometimes change from SSE to S and back to SSE.  Nothing major.  It's not like it was...

Re: Wind Vane Sensitivity

The wind direction transmits every 36 seconds regardless of the wind speed (which updates every 18 seconds).  The lowest non-zero wind speed that will be reported by the hardware is about 1mph.  (the...

Thanks for the review!! It sounds great. Might have to put it on my bday wish list.    Is it always illuminated or is there a button like on the blue unit? I'm just wondering if it's something that can...

Temp differences and rain gauge reset.

Looks better then I thought it would and I really like the new displays with the white/blue back light as I could finally read it from across the room. That would work well in my bedroom as my backup...

Re: Temp differences and rain gauge reset.

I'm not sure why your temperature would read higher in one spot than the other as they both get the reading from the same sensor. Also in the owners manual under the installation instructions it tells...

Thank you very much. I didn't receive a manual for the 5 in 1.  Just a quick start.  I think the temperature difference was occuring because the fan had not been working.  It did start working later in...

Re: Temp differences and rain gauge reset.

The temperature difference you are seeing could be a timing issue.  The 5in1 transmits temps to the display every 36 seconds while MBW updates every 5 minutes.

Re: Wind Vane Sensitivity

I slid a small, light metal washer over the nose piece of the vane and that did "calm it down" somewhat.  It still swings around easily in the slightest breeze.

Re: Rain Gauge battery life?

Zug,I've had the Acu-Rite 899 rain gauge for about two and a half years.  My experience is that it consumes batteries much quicker than either my 3N1 or 5N1 sensors.  I've always used Ray-O-Vac...

Re: 5n1 Reports -40 Temp; Other Outdoor Sensors Gone

So you are receiving a transmission from the sensor, but the wind, rain and temp are not normal? From the sound of it, it appears it got knocked down and then broken open and wet.
